REPOSE GUIDES
Paris: Kimsooja at La Bourse de Commerce
(March 2025)
Last year, I was lucky enough to visit a contemporary art exhibition in Paris. The building, remodeled by Tadao Ando, was a masterpiece in itself. Inside, an exhibition by the artist Kimsooja awaited visitors.
The experience was breathtaking. Seeing the building so perfectly restored, watching how the old architecture blended with the new—touching delicately without invading or overshadowing each other, was fascinating. With every step, I fell more in love with the space.
But when I reached the rotunda, Kimsooja’s exhibition took everything to another level. It was a huge circular mirror that made the whole experience of the building stand out even more.
Many people were lying on the floor, looking up at the dome as if in a 360-degree view. Others sat, watching the reflections of every part of the building, the light bouncing and shining even more. Children did flips and poses, while people took photos and lots of selfies.
For me, it was clear proof that when passion is what drives us, the results are always stronger. And the people who experience and connect with those spaces filled with passion also feel that energy and become part of it.
